Technician stabbed to death in fight

KLUANG: A technician was believed to have been stabbed to death with a knife by a 51-year-old male suspect during a fight in a building in Jalan Ampuan here last night.

Kluang district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Low Hang Seng said revenge was believed to be the motive behind the fight and the subsequent fatal stabbing of the 45-year-old victim.

He said urine tests conducted on the suspect who is a temple caretaker returned negative for any substances.

The suspect was remanded for seven days until April 1 for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, he said.

Police received a complaint via the 999 MERS line at 9.54pm yesterday, informing them there had been a fight in question and police rushed there, he said.

"Upon arrival, police found a man lying (on the ground) and covered in blood. The victim was confirmed to have died. The body also had traces of injuries.

"Investigating officers from the Kluang District Police Headquarters, with the assistance of the Johor Contingent Police Headquarters Forensic Team has taken several samples at the scene for investigation.

"Following the incident, police arrested a local suspected to be involved in the incident for further investigation," he said.

Low said the victim and the suspect had quarrelled on a previous occasion.
