Two teenage bikers nabbed for riding dangerously

PASIR MAS: Police detained two youths after they were caught riding dangerously along Jalan Gual Periok-Gual Tok Deh, near Rantau Panjang, last night.

The two were part of a group of motorcyclists spottted performing the dangerous stunts along the road before the Maghrib prayers.

Pasir Mas police chief Assistant Commissioner Nasaruddin Md Nasir said they were nabbed in a special operation codenamed 'Ops Samseng Jalanan'.

"A police patrol car spotted the group performing the dangerous acts in the middle of the road about 7pm.

"Seeing the police, some of the motorcyclists fled. Police managed to detain the two for allegedly being involved in performing various dangerous acts including zig-zags," he said in a statement.

Nasaruddin said police also seized their motorcycles.

He added that the duo, aged 17 and 18, were being held for further investigations.

"The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless and dangerous riding which could disturb other road users," he said.

Police, he said would continue to carry out similar operations to nab errant motorists.
