Two friends charged with murder [NSTTV]

GEORGE TOWN: Two friends were charged at the Magistrate's Court here today with the murder of a 33-year-old Indonesian, who was found dead in the parking lot of an apartment block in Jelutong here last Friday with his left leg chained to a chair.

No plea was recorded from Dino Antonio Felix, 52, and Ng Tse How, 45, when the charge was read before Magistrate R. Manomani.

They only uttered "faham" (understood) when asked if they understood the charge.

The two were charged with the murder of Arsan Eka Putra at the Eastern Court Apartment in Jelutong about 5.39pm on April 22.

The charge was framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Cyril Jatius prosecuted while the duo were unrepresented.

Cyril said no bail was offered and asked the court to fix another date pending post-mortem and chemist report of the remains.

"Under Section 302, the magistrate's court has no power to grant you bail," Manomani said.

She then fixed June 30 for mention.

The blood-stained body of an Indonesian man was found by residents in the parking lot of an apartment block in Jelutong at about 5.40pm last Friday. He was 33.

Based on preliminary investigation, the victim and a 52-year-old local man had shared a rented apartment unit there, which was turned into a homestay from April 13.

According to a delivery rider who is also a witness, he sent meals to their apartment every day at 1pm and 5pm, with the last delivery made at 5pm on the day the body was discovered, to one of the men.

Police found the victim's passport and he is believed to have come from Dumai, Indonesia on March 23.

The housemate disappeared soon after the incident.

Police managed to track and detain the housemate at a hotel along Jalan Penang about 12.10am on Tuesday.

Following his arrest, police also nabbed another 45-year-old man at a house in Jalan Lintang, Air Itam at about 1.30am the same day to assist in the investigation.
