Negri cops arrest two men for dangerous driving

SEREMBAN: Police arrested two men yesterday for driving dangerously between KM 269 to 238 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) southbound here.

Seremban District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nanda Maarof said the two men, aged 34 and 36, were detected driving two separate vehicles dangerously based on a video that had gone viral.

He said they were detected based on information and recordings received by the Operational Intelligence from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Seremban District Police Headquarters.

"Investigation found that the first 36-year-old man was driving an Audi A4 while the second 34-year-old man was driving a Toyota Wish.

"The Audi driver surrendered on May 2, 2022 at about 9pm while the Toyota Wish driver surrendered at 6.45pm yesterday. The two men were detained to assist in the investigation," he said in a statement.

Reports said the police were tracking down the two drivers or owners of two vehicles that were driven dangerously zig-zagging on the PLUS highway south bound.

The one minute 50 seconds video footage had since gone viral on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, Nanda said the initial investigation found that the cause of the incident was because the Audi A4 driver wanted to repossess the Toyota Wish car whose owner was said to have several months of arrears.

He said the Toyota Wish driver refused to stop, and this resulted in dissatisfaction and led to a chase involving the two suspects.

"The case is being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving."
