Woman seriously injured in stabbing by 14-year-old son

PASIR PUTEH: A 41-year-old mother was seriously injured when she was stabbed with a knife by her son, 14, at their home here last night.

The victim was asleep when the incident happened at their home in Bukit Yong about 11.45pm.

Kelantan Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Mohd Nor Yazhid Idris said, following a report being lodged, police detained the son.

He added that the victim who was stabbed in the chest was now warded at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian.

"Police were informed about the incident by a doctor at HUSM. The doctor had informed us that a woman was sent to the hospital with a stab wound to the chest.

"The victim is being treated at the hospital's red zone," he said in a statement tonight.

Nor Yazhid said police were told mother and son were sleeping in the same room.

"The victim suddenly felt pain in her chest. She screamed for her husband's help and pulled out the knife herself before passing out.

"Her husband rushed her to Tengku Anis Hospital here, but she was later transferred to HUSM after losing a lot of blood," he said.

He said initial investigations revealed the knife was obtained from the kitchen.

"The suspect, who is a student, will be remanded soon," he said.

Nor Yazhid added that the case was being investigated under Section 326 of Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon.
