Wife and brother-in-law nabbed for murder of husband

KUALA LUMPUR: A 40-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly murdering her husband of 18 years by assaulting him with a blunt weapon, all because she was angered by his drunkard ways.

Also detained was the man's 29-year-old brother, a private college student, believed to have conspired with the woman, a factory worker.

Police apprehended the duo under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder on June 10 at about 3pm, less than 24 hours after the incident.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the alleged murder took place at 12.30am on June 10 at the couple's rented home in Section 25.

The couple lives in the home with their children aged 16,10 and four, while the deceased's brother moved in with them six months ago.

"The victim was a 42-year-old self-employed and had a cleaning service business.

"He died in the house and was found with five stab wounds at the back of his head, a bruise on his body, torn lips and swollen cheek believed to be due to the blows of the blunt weapon.

"Our probe revealed that the woman had assaulted her drunk husband until he collapsed because she was angry with him as he was an alcoholic.

"They were both angry with him for drinking too much. We are investigating further under Section 302," he said.

The duo, he said, have been remanded from today until June 16.

Iqbal urged those with information to contact investigating officer Assistant Superintendent S.V Kumar at 012-8377 756.
