Two suspects nabbed on suspicion of raping underaged girl

PASIR MAS: Police have detained two men, allegedly for raping a 14-year-old girl early this year.

Kelantan acting police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the two, aged 18 and 20, were arrested separately on Sunday and yesterday.

"Following a report lodged on June 9, police have picked up two suspects.

"The first suspect, aged 18, a college student, was nabbed at a house in Kampung Sri Padang in Demit, Kubang Kerian, on Sunday.

"The second suspect, a 20-year-old jobless man, was detained after he surrendered himself at Tumpat police station the following day," he said.

Zaki said initial investigations showed that the two suspects did not have any previous crime record.

He added the two have been remanded until June 15 to assist in police investigations into the case.

Last Thursday, police received a report from a hospital where the girl, who is about three months pregnant, received treatment.

In the report, the girl claimed that the incidents happened separately in February and March this year in Pasir Mas.
