Police nab drug pusher who rammed into four vehicles while evading arrest

SUNGAI PETANI: A drug pusher was apprehended after he created havoc by driving against the flow of traffic in his desperate attempt to evade a pursuing police patrol car today.

The 1.30pm drama unfolded when the 36-year-old man sped off in his Proton Satria after a police patrol car flagged him for inspection at a petrol station in Bedong.

Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Zaidy Che Hassan said in his desperate attempt to flee, the man drove against the flow of traffic upon entering Sungai Lalang town.

"During the pursuit, the man had grazed a Honda Civic parked by the roadside before crashing into an oncoming Proton Iswara.

"The drug pusher then lost control of his car before crashing into a Honda HRV parked by the roadside," he said in a statement.

Zaidy said after the crash, the man tried to flee on foot but policemen managed to apprehend him at the scene.

"Upon inspecting his car, we seized three packets containing methamphetamine and two packets containing heroin and also a machete.

"The man who suffered minor injuries on his face, was detained for further investigation," he said.

Zaidy added the 54-year-old farmer who was driving the Proton Iswara escaped with injuries to his face and body.
