Making car look like a police vehicle lands car accessory owner in hot water

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a 45-year-old car accessory shop owner and seized a Nissan Skyline R32 with police livery and decals on it.

Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the arrest was made after a 13-second TikTok video of a public car resembling a police car went viral.

He said checks found that the sports car was one of the vehicles displayed at the Art of Speed Malaysia autoshow at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang this weekend.

At 10.30pm yesterday (Saturday), a team from the Sepang Criminal Investigations Department arrested the owner of the car.

Police also seized a Nissan Skyline R32 which had police emblems and livery on it, he said in a statement today.

He added that the man had been released on police bail after his statement was recorded.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 89 of the Police Act for owning items which were supplied to the police in dispensing their duties.
