Husband and wife murdered in Ipoh home, cops looking for brother

IPOH: Ng Chun Hon, 64, and his wife Ooi Tin Lu, 59, were found dead in their home in Taman Bercham Aman, here, this morning.

Police are now on the hunt for Chun Hon's younger brother, Ng Chun Ming, 61.

Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said police were alerted to the incident when Chun Hon's older brother came to the Bercham police station at 8.50am to inform that his brother and sister-in-law were found unresponsive and covered in blood.

Police rushed to the scene accompanied by paramedics from the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

"Both victims were found close to each other in the living room, with the male victim lying face down on the floor and the woman leaning against a wall. They were pronounced dead at the scene," he said when met by reporters.

Yahaya said initial investigation points to the couple being hit in their heads by a sharp weapon and a blunt object. They sustained severe head wounds.

"Police are still investigating the cause of death, we believe they died last night. We have yet to find the murder weapons used by the suspect," Yahaya said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Yahaya said Chun Hon worked as a mechanic while Tin Lu was a housewife.

He informed that Chun Ming had disappeared with a Proton Saga belonging to Tin Lu.

"We hope members of the public with information on the suspect can contact any nearby police station to assist with the investigation," he said.

Elaborating on the suspect, Yahaya said Chun Ming was unemployed and has a prior criminal record under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.

He added that Chun Hon's 90-year-old mother, who was ill and wheelchair-bound, and living with him and his wife, was at home during the incident.

"Investigation found that there were people who heard what sounded like an argument but no one informed the police."

Post-mortem will be carried out and police are still investigating the motive behind the double murders, he said.
