Police investigating threat to kill Crackhouse Comedy Club owner

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating the death threat received by Crackhouse Comedy Club owner Rizal van Geyzel.

The man in question had sent the message through Rizal's wife, yesterday, said Petaling Jaya police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.

"We received a report from the owner of Mycomedy Sdn Bhd (the comedy club's owners). The case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code (for criminal intimidation) and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 (which deals with insulting behaviour)," he said in a statement here today.

He said the threat was linked to the vandalising of the establishment. Two people were reported to have splattered paint at the entrance and signboard at 4am yesterday morning.

Police revealed that duo that vandalised the place left in a Proton Waja.

The spotlight was thrown on Rizal after the comedy club's open mic shows that allegedly insulted Malays and Islam.

In clips that went viral on social media Siti Nuramira Abdullah, a woman in her mid-20s, allegedly insulted Islam while on stage.

She was charged last week for insulting Islam.
