Six suspects picked up in rape case

IPOH: Police have arrested six men including a teenager for allegedly raping a female student on Monday.

Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the men, aged between 16 and 21, were picked up in several areas here after the victim's mother lodged a police report.

He said based on the report, the 16-year-old victim was found in a state of semi-consciousness in a house at Panorama Lapangan Terbang.

Mior Faridalthrash said following that, the victim was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for medical examination and was later found to have been raped.

"Initial investigations revealed that the victim had an acquaintance with one of the men. After knowing each other, the man took her to a hotel in Pekan Baru here.

"The victim was believed to have been left in the flat unit before her mother found her in a semi-conscious state," he told reporters today.

He said the men have been remanded for four days until Sunday for further investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
