Three arrested over alleged rape of 19-year-old in Petaling Jaya

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested three youths for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl in a house in Saujana Damasara Damai, here, on Friday.

Deputy district police chief Superintendent Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the victim lodged a report at the district police headquarters on Friday morning before police rounded up the three suspects.

"Initial investigations showed that the men had allegedly taken turns to rape the victim at one of the suspects' houses, after one of them invited her for dinner," he said.

He said the men, all aged between 21 and 23, were arrested at two separate locations in Saujana Damansara Damai and Bandar Sri Damansara on the same day.

"Checks showed the suspects, one of whom worked as a barber, another a lorry driver and the last a delivery rider, all did not have any past records.

"All of them have been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 375B of the Penal Code for rape," he said.

Ku Mashariman said the trio face between 10 and 30 years' jail if found guilty.
