Cops arrest suspected drug dealer, seize 185 methamphetamine pills and weapons

KOTA BARU: An attempt by a man to use a pistol and several sharp weapons in his illegal activities failed when he was detained recently.

The 28-year-old suspected drug dealer was arrested during an operation in Machang.

Acting Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said an Austrian Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol, five bullets, nine swords, two daggers and a parang were seized in the operation.

"Police raided a house in Taman Desa Bukit Ilmu near Ulu Sat, Machang at 11.50pm on Monday last week and detained the suspect.

"We later discovered the pistol, bullets and sharp weapons.

"Apart from that, we also found 185 methamphetamine pills in the house," he told reporters today.

Zaki said initial investigations showed that the suspect had a criminal record with 10 entries, including four for drug abuse.

"The suspect, from Gua Musang, tested positive for drugs," he said, adding that the man has been remanded for 14 days to assist in the investigation into the case.

Zaki said police were investigating whether the suspect had links with international drug syndicates.
