Najib adjusting to new routine in prison, says daughter

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is adjusting to life in Kajang Prison.

His daughter, Nooryana Najwa, said in an Instagram Story last night that Najib's life was now different than the packed routine that he was used to before.

"Today (yesterday) defence counsel met Daddy in Kajang Prison. Alhamdulillah, Daddy is in good health with a strong fighting spirit.

"He was given basic necessities and Daddy is adjusting to his new routine — different than the 'bossku' days which were always packed," she wrote.

She said her family thanked the Kajang Prison officers for looking after Najib.

Nooryana said her family would attend the hearing of Najib's 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case in the High Court today.

"This is the first time that we wait for Daddy's arrival in court," she said, adding that the family would continue to support Najib during the case.

On Tuesday, the Federal Court upheld Najib's conviction for misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International funds and sent to jail to serve his 12-year sentence. He was also fined RM210 million.

The Pekan member of parliament lost in his final attempt to overturn the jail sentence and fine as the Federal Court had ruled that the former prime minister failed to show how the findings of the lower courts were perverse and needed the intervention of the apex court.
