6,000 litres of subsidised diesel seized in Sg Petani raid

ALOR STAR: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry seized over 6,000 litres of subsidised diesel in Sungai Petani yesterday.

The ministry's Kedah office director Affendi Rajini Kanth said the subsidised fuel was seized during a 1pm raid at an unnumbered warehouse.

"The raid by five enforcement officers from the Alor Star office was carried out after intelligence and public complaints were gathered over the past two weeks.

"A preliminary investigation found that the warehouse was used as a place to collect diesel oil.

"The subsidised fuel seized at the warehouse is believed to have been bought from several fuel stations around Sungai Petani and Gurun before it was resold to the industry. During the raid, the warehouse was not operating," he said in a statement today.

Affendi added the warehouse did not have a valid licence or permit to store controlled items at the premises.

"The officers found a total of 6,038 liters of diesel fuel in fibre barrels during the raid.

"Also seized were pipe hoses and electric pumps valued at RM21,470."

He said the case is being investigated under the Control of Supply Act 1961.
