Police raid Keningau entertainment premises operating illegally

KENINGAU: Police have raided an entertainment premises here for operating illegally and arrested a 20-year-old youth who claimed to be its owner.

The raid which was carried out under 'Op Noda' took place at 2.20am.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Nor Rafidah Kasim said during the operation it was found that the music was blaring and customers were still drinking liquor inside the premises.

She said there were 33 patrons in the premises, consisting of 16 men and 17 women.

"A 20-year-old man who claimed to be the owner of the premises was arrested on suspicion of operating the premises without a valid licence.

"Some musical and audio equipment at the premises were also confiscated," she said when contacted.

Nor Rafidah said seizures were taken to the district police station for further action.

"The case is being investigated under the Public Entertainment Ordinance."
