Remand order for rape suspect extended

JOHOR BARU: The remand order for a man who allegedly raped his stepdaughter for five years has been extended for another five days.

Segamat police chief Superintendent Ahmad Zamry Marinsah said the suspect would be remanded until Oct 3.

"We are waiting for the medical report," said Ahmad Zamry when contacted today.

It was reported that a 64-year-old man was arrested in Batu Anam, Segamat, on Sept 21 for allegedly raping his stepdaughter, 17.

The victim confided the matter to her mother, who lodged a police report.

"Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had committed the offence multiple times since 2017, when the victim was 12 years old. "The suspect would commit the offence when they were alone at their house. The suspect would also threaten the victim to not reveal the matter," Ahmad Zamry said.

The case is being investigated under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code for rape.
