56-year-old man attacks female enforcement officer over traffic ticket

PETALING JAYA: A 56-year-old man was arrested yesterday for attacking and insulting an enforcement officer – all because of a traffic summons.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid said the man was detained yesterday about 5pm to assists investigations.

"The complainant, a 24-year-old woman, lodged a police report at 5.30pm on Monday.

"The woman said she was attacked by a man while discharging her duty as an enforcement officer about 9.30am of the same day in Petaling Jaya.

"She said she was attacked and cursed at by a man who was unhappy after the complainant issued a summons against him for a traffic violation," he said in a statement today.

Fakhruddin said the case was being investigated under Section 353 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.

He urged witnesses to contact investigating officer Inspector R. Yugarajan at 014-3049419 to assist police investigations.
