Cops nab 9 men, seize 17,444 litres of subsidised diesel in Johor raids

JOHOR BARU: Police seized over 17,000 litres of subsidised diesel during a series of raids here on Friday and early today.

Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said that in the first raid about 5pm last Sunday, police arrested a man at a petrol station in Skudai following a tip-off.

"Following the arrest, another raid was carried out at a storage facility in Ulu Tiram about 11pm, where seven men, six locals and a foreigner were arrested.

"Subsequently, another raid was carried out at 2.15am today at a premises in Pasir Gudang where another man was arrested," said Kamarul Zaman.

He said that in the raids, police seized 17,444 litres of subsidised diesel and five vehicles as well as several metal tanks and plastic containers.

"The confiscated diesel is worth RM48,494, while the total items seized are valued at RM281,494," he said.

He also said the suspects, aged between 20 and 41, have been handed over to the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry for further action.

"The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961."
