ALOR STAR: Police have detained a drug addict in connection with the death of his 3-month-old baby boy in Kampung Teluk Jawa, Padang Hang here yesterday.
Kota Setar police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said the post-mortem examination result showed that the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head.
"The 28-year-old suspect, who is the biological father of the victim, was detained in the backyard of a house in Kampung Sungai Lintang Teluk Jawa, Alor Star. He tested positive for methamphetamine," he said in a statement.
He said police had obtained a week-long remand order against the suspect, beginning today.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
