Police discover decomposed body of woman while investigating traffic accident

IPOH: Police discovered a decomposed body of a woman while they were investigating an accident at a traffic light junction in Jalan Tambun here, today.

The body was found about three metres away from a Proton Saga Aeroback which was involved in an accident and landed in a drain earlier today.

It was learnt that the car was driven by a man who was heading towards Ipoh from Tanjung Rambutan.

Following the 5am accident, a team of traffic policemen arrived at the scene about half an hour later to conduct the investigation.

While carrying out the investigation, a foul stench emanated from a nearby drain which led them to the decomposing body of a woman.

The body was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here for a post-mortem this evening to identify the woman and the cause of death.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan when contacted today, confirmed the case and further information would be released once the post-mortem is done.

It is also learnt that the man involved in the accident is reported to be in stable condition and currently receiving treatment at HRPB.
