PASIR SALAK: A decomposed body of a woman who was found in Jalan Besar Tambun, Ipoh, yesterday is an individual who had been reported missing since Oct 8.

The report was lodged by the 23-year-old woman's father at the Jelapang police station at 11.20pm.

It is learnt that the woman was last seen at 4.30pm on Friday when she wanted to go out to work at a factory in Jelapang.

Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the information was obtained after police reviewed missing person records reported to the police.

"We have checked the records of missing persons and found that there is one case in Ipoh," he told reporters after opening the Taman Angkat Perak Contingent's Women's Aman Squad (Amanita) at Taman Pelangi, Langkap, here today.

Mohd Yusri said that based on the results of the autopsy, the victim was believed to have died a few days ago.

He said an investigation is underway to find out whether the victim was killed in another area before being dumped there.

"A special team has been formed to carry out a detailed investigation related to this case after obtaining the autopsy report of the victim.

"We are also checking the motive of the murder and the exact location where she was killed," he said.

Yesterday, police discovered the woman's body by chance while investigating an accident at a traffic light junction in Jalan Besar Tambun.

The body was found about 3m away from a Proton Saga Aeroback which was involved in an accident and had landed in a drain.
