Cops to investigate Tommy Thomas, Michael Jeyakumar over alleged racist remarks

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will summon former attorney-general Tan Sri Tommy Thomas and Parti Sosialis Malaysia president Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj over allegedly racist remarks.

Federal police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said police would call the duo for their statements, which were made at the "Dark Forces Towards GE15 forum" on Sept 17.

"We will call them to record their statements soon. The duo had allegedly made racist and insensitive remarks in their speech during the forum at Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce," she said in a statement tonight.

She said Bukit Aman's Classified Crime Investigation Unit under the Criminal Investigation Department had initiated an investigation under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code for intent to incite or which is likely to incite any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community of persons.

"They will also be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," she said.
