KUALA LUMPUR: A senior citizen died after he was stabbed by a man who suspected the victim had an affair with his wife in an incident at the carpark of a supermarket in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Kajang yesterday.
Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said the 71 year old victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the Serdang Hospital at 11.05 pm.
He said police received an initial report from the hospital that he had received a patient who suffered stab wounds at 6.29 pm.
"We were informed that the victim was sent to the hospital by a female friend and he managed to inform the hospital staff that he was attacked at the supermarket.
"Initial check by the hospital showed that the victim suffered serious injuries to his right lung, the right shoulder and thigh," said Mohd Zaid in a statement.
He said the victim was put in a ventilator and placed at the Red Zone of the hospital's emergency department but succumbed to his injuries at 11.05 pm.
"Following that, we arrested a 45 year old man at a location in the city at 1.35 am and his 52 year old wife at Serdang Hospital to help in the investigation.
"From the interrogation, the male suspect admitted injuring the suspect because he was angry that his wife was having an intimate affair with the victim.
"The suspect claimed that during the incident, his wife was alone in the car with the victim at the location," said Mohd Zaid.
He added that police seized several items including the victim's vehicle, four handphones, the suspect's blood-soaked clothing and a receipt for the purchase of a knife to help in the investigation.
"Both suspects have been remanded for seven days until December 2 and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
"We urge anybody with information about the incident to come forward to help the investigation."
