Still no new leads on missing former TV3 personality Zalina Shaharah Azman

SHAH ALAM: The disappearance of former TV3 personality Zalina Shaharah Azman, 58, better known as Zalina Azman, has remained a mystery for over a year.

There have been no new clues regarding her disappearance in November 2021.

Journalists who inspected Zalina's house in Section 3 here observed that the house was desolate and quiet, as well as overgrown with weeds.

The gate was tightly shut and there was no home renovation work being done.

A resident who declined to be named said that the last time he saw police at the house was in July.

"After that no one came, sometimes only journalists and photographers were seen.

The gate, which had been broken apart, has now been reinstalled and shut tightly," he said when we met yesterday.

Meanwhile, Selangor deputy police chief, Datuk S Sasikala Dend vi said although there were no new leads on the disappearance of the woman, investigation was still ongoing.

According to her, the case was not closed, and it was being handled according to the standard operating procedure (SOP).

"Detailed investigations are being carried out, including obtaining information about the development of the case from family members and individuals who have information.

"To date, there have been no new clues as to Zalina's whereabouts, and there has been no movement inside or outside the house," she said when contacted.

News of the missing personality was made public by the Shah Alam district police headquarters in July.

Police received a report from Zalina's son, Mikhael Norman, 33, regarding the disappearance of his mother on Nov 29 last year.

The last time Zalina's son was in contact with her was in July last year. Zalina was reported missing after Mikhael failed to contact her since Nov 24, 2021, to inform her that the television personality's father was hospitalised.

Zalina's best friend, Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi, 54, said she believed Zalina was still alive and would continue to wait for her reappearance.

She said she had contacted the police several times but there was no further development regarding the disappearance of her friend.

She further shared that she and her friends also sent messages to Zalina through social media in the hope of receiving a reply from her.

"As for the family, I'm sure they haven't given up looking for her. I personally feel that Zal is still there (alive), but I don't know where she is. So, I am asking anyone to help, tell me or the police if they see Zal. We are worried and miss her."

Meanwhile, Datuk Aznil Nawawi appealed for those with information of Zalina's whereabouts to come forward.

"Recently, I had discussions with Datuk Ras Adiba, Haliza Hashim, Zakiah Anas and Azura Karim. But we are also at a dead end.

"At the same time, we are also very careful in trying to track down Zalina because we are afraid of interfering with police efforts," he said.
