Two Myanmars nabbed for kidnapping 10-year-old girl

BACHOK: Police have detained two Myanmar citizens for kidnapping a 10-year-old girl from the same country, on Tuesday.

Bachok police chief, Superintendent Muhamad Ismail Jamaluddin said the two were arrested at a bus station in Selising, Pasir Puteh.

He said police also saved the girl in the 9pm operation.

"Police received a missing report from the girl's family about 8.50am yesterday.

"In the report, the girl's father said he had left his two daughters, aged 8 and 10, at their home in Kampung Pengkalan Cina, here, about 7.30pm on Tuesday night as he needed to go to a clinic.

"On returning home about 10pm, he found that his 10-year-old daughter was missing and was informed that two Myanmar men had taken her.

"Following the report, police raided the suspect's home and launched 'Ops Tutup'. They found the girl and the two men at the bus station," he said in a statement.

Ismail said the girl was later sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital for a medical check-up.

"A medical examination found no physical injuries on the girl, and she admitted that one of the men was her boyfriend," he added.

The two, aged 17 and 28, will be remanded soon, he said.
