Remand extended for four cops involved in robbery, molest

TANAH MERAH: Four policemen nabbed on suspicion of being involved in a gang robbery and molesting a woman here last week have had their remand extended for another day.

Their initial remand order ends tomorrow, and the extension was obtained at the Tanah Merah Sessions Court here.

Earlier, the four were remanded for five days from Dec 30 to assist in the police investigation into the case

Tanah Merah police chief Superintendent Mohd Haki Hasbullah confirmed the remand order extension.

The four policemen were arrested on suspicion of being involved in a gang robbery at Kampung Jakar here last Wednesday.

The three constables and a corporal are from the Bukit Bunga police station.

Police detained the four, aged between 22 and 34, about 2pm following a report lodged by a woman last Thursday.

The woman claimed that three masked men entered her house about 4am last Wednesday and another man waited outside in a Proton Wira.

They took three handphones belonging to the woman and her brother.

They also demanded RM1,000 from the victims, but her brother gave only RM980.

The woman also claimed that one of the them molested her before leaving the house.
