Jealousy motive behind bomb killing in Pandan Indah

KUALA LUMPUR: An extramarital affair between a cook and another man's wife is believed to be the motive behind the homemade bomb explosion in Pandan Indah last week.

The victim was said to have had an affair with the wife of the man believed to have made the bomb.

Sources said the woman's husband, who is said to work as a ceramic maker, allegedly learned how to make the homemade bomb via YouTube.

"The victim's affair with the woman was discovered by her husband in May last year and this led the victim to flee to Kedah for a while before he returned to Ampang, where the explosion happened.

"Investigations are still ongoing and the police have not ruled out the possibility that the man learned to make bombs on YouTube," he said yesterday.

Meanwhile, acting Selangor Police Chief Datuk S. Sasikala Devi said following the incident, the police arrested a married couple aged 33 and 30 in Serdang, Kedah, at 7.20pm yesterday.

"Both suspects are remanded for seven days to assist investigation. The case is being investigated for murder," she said.

In the 8.55pm incident, a 28-year-old restaurant cook died when he touched a package left on his car bonnet.

It is learnt that the victim received a call telling him to pick up the parcel left outside the restaurant he worked at.

The parcel exploded as he touched it and some onlookers took him to the hospital in a car.

Several eyewitnesses at the scene said the victim was drenched in his blood and was screaming for help.

He suffered severe injuries to his body and hands and was rushed to Ampang Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at 9.45pm.

Police investigation at the location found several objects and traces of the explosion, including batteries and dents on the victim's car.

A video of the incident has also gone viral since it happened last Thursday.
