Police: Pandan Indah blast suspect has wiring, electrical skills [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Police believed one of the suspects nabbed in connection with a murder in Pandan Indah last week had used his wiring and elecrical skills to make the bomb that killed a cook in the incident.

Acting Selangor police chief Datuk S. Sasikala Devi said checks showed the 33-year-old man has experience in the construction field, especially when it comes to wiring and electrical works.

She said this has allowed the suspect to put together a homemade bomb with a remote detonating capability and using items such as mosaic powder and some knife fragments.

"We believe he was present at the scene (at the time of the incident)," she said at a press conference today.

She added that several items seized during his arrest at a house in Serdang, Kedah have been sent them to the Chemistry Department for checks.

Sasikala Devi said with the arrest of the two suspects, the man and his wife, police considered the case as solved.

"We believe that we have solved the case... and the motive behind the attack is personal in nature," she added.

In the incident, an assistant chef was killed when a package placed on his car parked in front of a restaurant in Pandan Indah exploded last Thursday.

The 28-year-old victim reportedly wanted to move the package after being told by a colleague about it.

The man sustained severe injuries to the body and hands and died while being treated at the Ampang Hospital.
