Najib Razak's review hearing to be presided in a day

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak's application to the Federal Court to review its decision to uphold his conviction and sentence in the SRC International Bhd case will be heard for a day instead of three.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Ashrof Adrin Kamarul said the hearing would commence at the Federal Court on Jan 19 while the other two days (Jan 20 and 26) have been vacated.

According to court notice sighted by NST, the dates were vacated as the panels involved in the former prime minister's proceedings need to attend other urgent hearings.

Najib is seeking a review of the Federal Court's decision to reject his application to adduce fresh evidence relating to the then High Court judge Datuk Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.

He is also seeking a review of the court's decision to dismiss his bid to postpone his appeal hearing as well as the decision to recuse Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat.

Najib was convicted of all seven charges of power abuse, criminal breach of trust and money laundering in relation to RM42 million of SRC International funds.

Nazlan, who was the trial judge, had sentenced him to 12 years' jail and RM210 million fine.

Najib, 70, is now serving his jail sentence in Kajang Prison.
