MACC denies claims it offered RM10mil to Wan Saiful to implicate Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is considering legal action against an individual who claimed it had offered RM10 million to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan to implicate the party's president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"This individual is irresponsible and MACC will take legal against the person.

"This is slander and the person is a liar. Individuals like this are the ones who destroy people's trust in the commission." MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki told Berita Harian.

He was commenting on a 44-second video clip on Twitter featuring a man who claimed that MACC had offered Wan Saiful RM10 million to implicate Muhyiddin.

Earlier today, Wan Saiful claimed trial for accepting close to RM7 million in bribes in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme to help Bumiputera contractors.

The Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament pleaded not guilty after the charge was read out to him before Sessions Court Judge Azura Alwi.

He was also charged with soliciting RM232 million worth of bribes in relation to the programme.

Separately, businessman Adam Radlan also claimed trial to soliciting and accepting a bribe of RM500,000 in relation to the Jana Wibawa programme.

He was accused to have solicited a bribe from the managing director of MIE Infrastructure and Energy Sdn Bhd, Mat Jusoh Mamat, as a kickback for the company to obtain a letter of agreement for a project under Jana Wibawa.

He was also accused of accepting a RM500,000 bribe from Mat Jusoh for the company to obtain a road construction project worth RM47.8 million.

Both Wan Saiful and Adam are currently out on bail after paying the RM400,000 and RM120,000 bail amounts respectively.
