ALOR SETAR: Two Myanmar nationals were arrested in a raid in Kampung Bukit Lada in Pokok Sena on suspicion of embezzling 8,000 litres of diesel worth RM124,200.

Kedah Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Ministry director Affendi Rajini Kanth said the operation was carried out by the Bukit Aman Police Federal Reserve Unit (Intelligence/Operations) before it was handed over to them at 11pm yesterday.

He said two tanks and some diesel transfer equipment suspected to be used for the activity were also confiscated.

Affendi said the seized items were estimated to be worth RM124,200 while the investigation was carried out following Section 20 (1) of the Supply Control Act 1961.

If convicted, an individual can be fined not more than RM1 million or imprisoned not more than three years or both.

"For the second offence, an individual can be fined not more than RM3 million or imprisoned not more than five years or both," he said.

For organisations, a fine of not more than RM2 million can be imposed and for the second offence a fine of not more than RM5 million.
