IPOH: Police have identified the driver of a Toyota Alphard who allowed three children to stick their heads out through the vehicle's sunroof, a video of which has since gone viral.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said authorities became aware of the 24-second video recording of the incident, which was shared by a netizen on a Facebook group yesterday.

"The video recording showed three children sticking their heads out through the vehicle's sunroof while it was moving," he said in a statement today.

Yahaya said initial investigations revealed that the incident took place on Wednesday at 10.40pm in Jalan Sultan Idris Shah.

"The children, aged between 13 and 16, were in the car with their relative and their mother.

"Police have received a report on the incident and are investigating the case under Section 336 of the Penal Code for endangering the lives or safety of others and Section 31(1)(a) Child Act 2001 for negligence," he said.

He also urged the person who recorded the video to come forward or contact the senior investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Yap Siew Cheng, at 012-9093 362 to assist in the investigation.

"Police advise road users, especially parents and guardians, not to undertake actions that endanger the lives or safety of their children and others," he added.
