Ministry foils attempt to embezzle 11,000 litres of subsidised diesel

PUTRAJAYA: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry crippled a syndicate smuggling subsidised diesel following a raid on a premise in the Nilai Industrial Area today.

The ministry's secretary-general, Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof said the raid under Ops Tiris was conducted at 4am today and two men were detained, including a lorry driver, suspected of transferring the subsidised diesel.

He said the team found 11,000 litres of diesel, several empty tanks, tanks filled with diesel, a lorry, and other equipment used for diesel misappropriation at the premise that was believed to have been used as a warehouse to store and transfer diesel.

"Checks also revealed that the premises did not have a valid licence or documents from the supply controller to carry out activities involving controlled goods, like subsidised diesel.

"All the items found were seized for further investigations, with the total seizure valued at RM53,550," he said in a statement today (Mar 16). – Bernama
