Ministry seizes 5,000 litres of subsidised diesel in Semenyih raid

PUTRAJAYA: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry confiscated 5,000 litres of diesel and equipment believed to have been used for misappropriating subsidised fuel in a raid at a premises in Semenyih, Selangor last Tuesday.

The ministry's director-general, Datuk Azman Adam, in a statement today, said a team of enforcement officers from the ministry conducted the raid at 9.30pm after suspecting that the premises was being used as a store and to siphon diesel.

"Diesel, motorised pumps, connecting pipes, several documents and other equipment that were found at the location were seized, with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM13,250," he said.

He said the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Meanwhile, he said, a nationwide operation codenamed "Ops Tiris" was conducted from March 1 to 21, during which a total of 2,582 inspections were carried out, resulting in 69 cases being recorded with a total seizure value of RM1.27 million. — BERNAMA
