Jobless man charged with drug trafficking, possession

JOHOR BARU: A jobless was charged in the magistrate's court here with four counts of drug trafficking last month.

Er Teng Ping, 39, said he understood the charges against him but no plea was recorded when the charges were read before magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Shamsudin.

On the first two counts, Er was accused of trafficking in 36.9kg of Eramin-5 pills and 865g of ecstasy pills in a vehicle parked in a side lane off Jalan Indah 7/9, Taman Bukit Indah, about 4.15pm on March 21.

On the two other counts, he was alleged to have trafficked in ecstasy powder weighing 5.204kg and 489g of cannabis at a house in Jalan Indah 7/9 about 3.20pm on the same day.

All four charges were framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same act.

In the same court, Er was also charged with two counts of possessing ketamine weighing 850g and 53g, respectively.

The offences were alleged to have taken place in the same car parked in the lane off Jalan Indah 7/9.

The charges were framed under Section 12(2) of the same act, punishable under Section 12(3).

The court fixed May 15 for re-mention and for the chemist's report to be presented.
