Men caught on camera stealing Kelana Jaya mosque's donation box [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Unknown men, wearing face masks and caps, were caught on camera running away with a mosque's donation box recently.

In a viral video shared by @jnmalaysia on Twitter, the incident reportedly happened at Masjid Nurul Yaqin in Kelana Jaya near here early Monday morning.

The one minute and-32 second video showed the men with bolt cutters trying to take away the donation boxes placed outside the mosque's prayer hall.

The video showed two of the men trying to break the chain and later taking away the donation box.

Over 14,000 netizens have viewed the video so far.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid confirmed the incident and said they are looking for three men believed to be involved in the incident.

The closed circuit footage of the mosque showed three men trespassing.

He said the losses were estimated at RM400, and the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in building.
