BINTULU: An elderly woman was believed to have been murdered by her nephew and a foreign accomplice at her residence in Tubau, Sebauh, on Wednesday.
Initial police investigations revealed that the motive behind the crime was the nephew's refusal to care for the victim, an 80-year-old woman who was frail and in poor health.
Bintulu police chief Superintendent Nixon Joshua Ali said they received information about the incident at 8pm and arrested both suspects at 9pm.
He added that the victim was found unconscious and was later confirmed dead by the paramedic team from the Health Ministry.
The two suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
