KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian woman, Mondy Tattoo, has been ordered to pay RM20,000 in damages to celebrity preacher Ebit Lew for defaming him with false rape accusations.
The Shah Alam Sessions Court issued the ruling after reviewing the arguments presented by Ebit's lawyer, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader.
Ebit shared the news on social media today, expressing gratitude and confirming the court's decision.
"Alhamdulillah, I won the lawsuit against Mondy (Dita Restu), and she has been ordered to pay me RM20,000," Ebit posted, along with a screenshot of the court's writ of summons.
According to the court document, Mondy, whose real name is Dita Restu Amanda, is required to pay general damages of RM20,000, plus interest at 5 per cent per annum from the date the summons was filed until the case is resolved.
Ebit also said that his defamation lawsuit against Caprice, who had discussed the allegations in a podcast, is scheduled for a hearing in May.
Previously, Mondy had filed a police report accusing Ebit of sexual harassment. Ebit denied the claims and filed a defamation report.
On June 6, 2023, it was confirmed that no charges would be filed against Ebit over the rape allegations after the prosecution decided not to proceed with the case.
Ebit filed the defamation lawsuit against Mondy and Caprice on Sept 26, 2023.
He claimed that he had met Mondy, who introduced herself as a single mother and homeless person, during a humanitarian activity in Jakarta on June 7, 2023.
