DPM fuming over school hall quality, told MACC to investigate

BAGAN DATUK: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has instructed Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to probe into the construction of SMK Hutan Melintang’s hall which he had opened just now.

The deputy prime minister was visibly dissatisfied that the building had come up short in its required specifications, despite the RM600,000 allocation provided by the Prime Minister’s Department.

Zahid, who is also Bagan Datuk member of Parliment, called on all Barisan Nasional elected representatives to monitor each project implemented in their respective constituencies.

“Lodge a report with MACC if there are discrepancies so that action can be taken against those who have committed fraud, even if it involves BN representatives.

“I do not want the people to fall victims to these ‘Little Napoleons’. Even though in rural areas, we know the number of allocations approved and the value of each project.

“We acknowledge that each contractor must have their profit margin, but they should not rake in excessive profit by completing the projects without meeting the required specifications,” he told reporters here.

Earlier during the opening of the hall which was completed on Dec 31, Zahid presented school aid to parents.
