KOTA BARU: The family of the late Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat has locked the gate of the Kampung Pulau Melaka cemetery to prevent Langkawi candidate Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad from visiting his grave today.
The move was done by Maahad Tahfiz and Pengajian Al-Quran Nik Matillah principal Fazilah Hakimi about 9.30am after receiving a directive from Nik Aziz’s son Nik Adli.
Nik Adli told NSTP that the move was to take care of the feelings of all family members.
“The move was made by all family members who agreed to it. That’s all my comment and please get the statement from my cousin (Ahmad Dusuki Abd Rani),” he said when met at the cemetery.
A close relative said the decision actually came from Nik Aziz’s wife Tuan Sabariah Tuan Ishak.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Dusuki told a press conference that the move was not to stop Dr Mahathir and his delegates from visiting the grave of the former Pas spritual leader but more to ‘prevent” fraction among the people and this is one of the ways to do it.
’We do not want any quarters try to create issues when the general election is near.
“Our family have had enough and we would like to warn outsiders not to cause any trouble to our family,” he said.
