'Alhamdulillah, Ainul can now breathe on her own'

KUALA LUMPUR: Ainul Mardhiah Ahmad Safiuddin, the nine-month-old baby who underwent surgery in London for a germ cell tumour, is now able to breathe on her own without aid.

This was shared by her father, Ahmad Safiuddin Ahmad Razak via a Facebook posting.

Ainul, after her plight drew sympathy from Malaysians, was flown to London last week for an operation to remove a large tumour from her mouth.

"Alhamdulillah, Ainul (Mardhiah) no longer needs oxygen support. She can now breathe on her own,” he wrote.

The post was met with relief by netizens, garnering 12,000 reactions and 500 comments, barely an hour after it was uploaded.

Ainul Mardhiah successfully underwent the operation at a hospital in London last Monday.

The growth, weighing 200 grams, was removed by a team of surgeons and specialists led by Professor David Dunaway, consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon and head of the Craniofacial Unit of the hospital.

Ainul’s steadily improving condition also meant that she was able to be moved to a regular ward last Friday.
