25 imported Covid-19 positive cases today

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has recorded a total of 251 positive cases among Malaysian students and citizens returning to the country.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said even today, of the 57 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the country, 25 were imported cases.

He advised the students abroad to take all necessary measures to prevent infection including practicing social distancing, washing their hands often and wearing face masks when possible.

Health Ministry, he said, was aware that many Malaysian students were still overseas and wished to return home.

As a matter of procedure, all returning Malaysians will be placed under quarantine and undergo Covod-19 screening.

Currently, there are 24,238 individuals under quarantine. From this number, 16,327 have already had their first sample taken while 7,386 have had their second sample taken.

Health officials take two samples from those under quarantine, one at the beginning of the quarantine period and another at the end to verify their status.
