Dr Noor Hisham: Social distancing crucial at water theme parks

KUALA LUMPUR: As water theme parks nationwide prepare to resume operations on July 1, social distancing is a major concern for the Health Ministry.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said theme park operators must focus on maintaining social distancing among crowds, in addition to maintaining high cleanliness and hygiene levels at their facilities.

To avoid congestion, he said the 54 water theme parks set to re-open on Wednesday must operate in the new normal.

"Our concern here is the issue of congestion when the (water) parks reopen. We have to keep a certain limit on the number of visitors and these parks should not operate like before (the Movement Control Order).

"We advise everyone, including theme park operators, to take precautionary measures and keep a high level of hygiene. What is crucial is for the public to practice social distancing," he said at the daily Covid-19 press conference today.

On pool cleanliness, Dr Noor Hisham said park operators must clean their pools often, as well as use chlorine to clean the water.
