Pavithra forgives husband, renounces Ipoh Icon Award [NSTTV]

IPOH: After keeping mum about her husband's arrest for assaulting her, S. Pavithra finally broke her silence today.

The 28-year-old online star said that she has "forgiven" her husband, M. Sugu, 29, and that they will continue to focus on creating content for their YouTube channel, "Sugu Pavithra".

She added that she and her husband are also declining any form of recognition or honour from any party, as they are simply "ordinary people."

"We do not want to accept the 'Ipoh City Icon' award... we do not want that (or any other award). We are only ordinary people, and we want to focus on our YouTube channel.

"We are not deserving (of the) 'Ipoh City Icon' award as there are so many other talented people out there (who are more deserving than) us," she said.

Pavithra said this when met at the Ipoh Sessions Court after posting bail for her husband today.

"We want to live a normal life like others. We want to focus on our family, that's all.

"We don't want to be recognised by others. Let us enjoy life like we used to before," she added.

Pavithra was seen smiling and holding Sugu's hand after the latter was released from police custody.

Earlier today, Sugu was charged at the Sessions Court here with possession of an offensive weapon and hurting his wife.

However, he pleaded 'not guilty' to both charges.

It is learnt that trouble erupted for the couple on Monday when Pavithra, in receiving an award from Ipoh mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, failed to mention her husband in her acceptance speech.
