Bukit Kepong villagers participate in fun walk, family day

BUKIT KEPONG: Villagers in Lenga, here, participated in a fun walk organised by the Johor Community Development Department (Kemas) for Malaysia Day, yesterday.

The event, which included a Family Day and a quiz session on Merdeka and the Rukunegara, was launched by Bukit Kepong state assemblyman, Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal.

More than 50 villagers participated in the 2km walk, which was preceded by some brief warm-up exercises.

Johor Kemas operations officer, Makhtir Mohammed, said the agency decided to celebrate Malaysia Day with Lenga villagers this year, and will move the celebrations to other locations in future.

"We hope to bring more families together with this fun walk in the spirit of Malaysia Prihatin," he said.

Also joining the walk was Bersatu Srikandi Pagoh chief Janariah Abu Nawan and Nation of Women chief, Suhaila Hashim.

Participants were later presented with hampers and goodies.
