KUALA LUMPUR: A new Covid-19 'Ara' cluster has been detected in Penang, involving two Malaysians, the Health Ministry reported today.

Its Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the index case of this cluster is a 44-year-old man (Case-10,024), who tested positive after arriving in Sandakan, Sabah, from Peninsular Malaysia on Sept 15.

"After the screening at the international entry point in Sandakan, close contact screening was done and another positive case was detected.

"The patient (Case-10,217) is a relative to the index case, tested positive on Sept 19 and had been admitted to Penang Hospital for treatment."

Dr Noor Hisham said as of today, 16 individuals had been screened, with two testing positive and 14 negative.
