Lembah Pantai MP staff positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil said his office and service centre have been temporarily closed after a staff tested positive for Covid-19.

In a Facebook post, Fahmi confirmed his staff who returned from Sabah last Friday had tested positive for the virus and is warded at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

"Yesterday, a staff who returned from Sabah last Friday was confirmed positive for Covid-19. The staff has since been taken to hospital.

"The last time I went to Sabah was from Sept 5-6, and I met this staff on Sept 21 (last Monday)," he said.

Because of close contact with the staff, Fahmi and the rest of his staff will undergo testing and be placed under home quarantine, and his office will be closed and undergo decontamination.

"However, in adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and instructions from the Health Ministry and the Lembah Pantai district medical office, all my staff including me went to the Tanglin health clinic for Covid-19 testing. We will undergo quarantine at home according to the period advised.

"My office will be closed until we have completed the 'home quarantine' and given a clean bill of health. The decontamination proses will be done at my office this evening.

"Lembah Pantai residents who want to engage with us can do so via our Facebook page or email, and we regret any inconvenience caused. Please pray we are safe and out of danger from the Covid-19 pandemic," he said.

The Health Ministry began implementing home surveillance requirements for those returning from Sabah on Sunday (Sept 27).

On Tuesday, 101 new cases were detected in the country, most of which were from Sabah. At present the total number of positive cases stands at 11,135 with 134 deaths.
