Paradigm Mall confirms outlet staff positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: The Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya management confirmed a staff member from the Brands Outlet in its building has been tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement today, the mall management said the outlet, which was located on the ground floor of the premises, had been ordered to close immediately and to undergo a thorough sanitisation process.

The patient had not entered the premise since Oct 3 and he had been on annual leave from Sept 27 until Oct 1.

"He had only reported for work on Friday, Oct 2, during which the outlet confirmed that his temperature was below 37.5 degrees Celcius and he did not show any symptom.

"He has a roommate, who just returned from Sabah on Sept 27. The latter is not a staff member of the outlet or any other outlet in the mall.

"Subsequently, the staff member was contacted and notified by the Health Ministry that his roommate had been tested positive for Covid-19.

"Accordingly, the patient applied for medical leave commencing from Oct 3, to undergo testing himself and had neither report to work nor enter the mall since," read the statement.

The mall management would provide the necessary support to the patient and the affected outlet workers.

"The patient's co-workers, as well as individuals who have been in direct contact with him are being traced, notified and advised to immediately undergo self-quarantine.

"They are also advised to seek immediate medical assistance if they begin to display any symptom or feel unwell."

The mall management assured its tenants, vendors and customers that the incident remained as an isolated case.

"We've been performing daily sanitisation of the mall areas for every two hours at high-touch areas.

"We have never stopped conducting strict temperature screening procedure.

"Our patrons must wear face masks at all times. We have set up limited entry points at the mall for better crowd control.

"We have also encouraged frequent hand-washing and sanitising, as well as ensuring our patrons practice physical distancing at all times."
